Mission Statement

Hyannis Yacht Club is a private club dedicated to the sport of yachting. We provide our members and their families the opportunity for seamanship and navigation education, exceptional sailing and swimming instruction, competitive racing opportunities, fun and engaging social entertainment, and excellent dining opportunities."

Strategic Vision

Hyannis Yacht Club will be widely recognized as the premiere sailing venue on Cape Cod by providing the best youth programs and overall waterfront experience. The Club will be its members’ first choice for social engagement, maintain a high degree of fiscal responsibility, and embrace its culture of shared commitment, camaraderie, and volunteerism.

The Hyannis Yacht Club is located on Cape Cod on the shore of Lewis Bay, just minutes from Nantucket Sound and Hyannis Harbor offering one of the nation’s top places to sail.

In addition to regional, national, and international regattas, HYC hosts One Design club racing on Sunday and Thursday evenings, Ocean racing (Beer Can) in Nantucket Sound on Wednesdays. Several long-distance ocean races are scheduled during the season.

How to Join

We welcome new members to our club. 

Active membership allows full access to the club and is a voting member. Associate membership allows dining at the Captains Table and limited inclusion in select social, racing and educational activities. 

Membership for all classes of membership is approved by the Board of Trustees.

Welcomed as Guests of the club.

Members of recognized Yacht Clubs are granted use of the club’s facilities and restaurant. They may participate in club racing events on approval of the Race Committee. They have access to the club’s launch service and may be able to use dock space depending upon availability. 

Frequent users of the club must apply for membership.

Club Staff

We Employ Staff for Our Restaurant and Waterfront

The Hyannis Yacht Club is managed by a General Manager. The key staff reporting to the GM are Executive Chef, Functions Manager, and Club Steward. The club annually requires sailing and swimming instructors, additional wait staff, dockhands, launch drivers, and lifeguards for the recreational season.

Our Club is Supported By Volunteers

Many of the functions of the Club are controlled by member volunteers as part of a committee. The club's activities are divided into tasks and assigned to a committee by the Commodore and approved by the Board of Trustees. New Active Members are encouraged to join committees and help run the club.

HYC Youth Programs

Learn to Swim and Sail

Hyannis Yacht Club Swim/Sail Programs are open to children of members of the club, and children of non-members when sponsored by a club member. Enthusiastically promoted by all club members, children attend throughout the summer vacation and take part in countless group activities including organized games,
swimming meets with other clubs, racing, regattas, and all kinds of supervised fun in and on the water.

Regattas, Midweek and Weekend Racing & More

Our annual Regatta draws sailors from all over the world and includes 3 days of competitive racing for several classes. Our Midweek racing includes J22s Lasers and PHRF. All sailors are welcome. We have many special events including the world-famous Figawi Weekend race to Nantucket, PHRF Distance Races, as well as International Events and Student Invitationals. Join the annual HYC Cruise for Power and Sail Boats.
